  1. Describe how self-monitoring of blood glucose can be used most effectively in patients with type 2 diabetes not taking insulin.
  2. Identify the ways continuous glucose monitoring can assist in improving glycemic control in children, adults, and pregnant women with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
  3. Recognize the importance of glycemic variability in producing complications of diabetes.
  4. Understand which of the various technologies (e.g., insulin delivery devices, fingerstick and continuous glucose meters, pumps) would be most appropriate for patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
  5. Compare the benefits and risks of mobile health technologies for management of diabetes.
  6. Identify the patients in whom bariatric surgery is appropriate for primary management of diabetes.
